Shreve Memorial Library Foundation Receives Grant from Dollar General Literacy Foundation to Expand Summer Reading Efforts

Shreve Memorial Library Foundation is the proud recipient of a Summer Reading Grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to help expand Shreve Memorial Library's annual Summer Reading Program reach, bringing the annual Summer Reading Program out of the library and into the community. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation's Summer Reading Grants specifically support the creation or expansion of summer reading programs. The Summer Reading Grant to Shreve Memorial Library Foundation is one of twenty such grants in Louisiana. With this grant, the Foundation will provide funding and supplies for Shreve Memorial Library to expand its Summer Reading Program into participating SPAR Summer Camp locations. Day campers will log reading minutes through June and July, and those who read at least 300 minutes will receive a free book and other completion prizes including tote bags, coupons, completion certificates, and raffle tickets for additional prizes. In addition, four-day campers at each participating SPAR location who log the most reading minutes will each receive an additional "Super Reader" prize. Participating SPAR locations include: - Mamie Hicks (200 Mayfair Street) - AB Palmer (547 E. 79th Street) - Airport Park (6500 Kennedy Drive) - David Raines (2920 Round Grove Lane) The Dollar General Literacy Foundation provides grant funding to support literacy and education initiatives serving individuals of all ages. The DGL Foundation funds nonprofit organizations, schools and libraries within a 15-mile radius of Dollar General stores in the states in which they operate.
